The Patagonia Lumber Co. Bar Manager Job Description:

As manager of this very special small town bar, you will wear a lot of fun hats:

  • Manage inventory

  • Hire, train, and oversee staff

  • Lead by example

  • Lead operations

    • Bar operations refers to everything that needs to happen for the business to run effectively each day. This means the bar manager creates:

      • How to clean a bar/bar opening & closing checklists

      • Weekly & monthly cleaning checklists

      • Bartender duties checklists

      • Training materials

      • Shift changeover guidelines

      • Emergency protocols

      • Employee policies (time off, rules, etc.)

      • Your full bar beer + wine lists

      • Making sure all the necessary bar equipment & supplies are stocked

      • Optimal bar equipment layout

  • Ensure bar cleanliness & safety

  • Conduct marketing, SEO, bar promotion, and driving sales

  • Maintain a budget

  • Build relationships with clientele

  • Drive sales

Along with your Bar Manager Responsibilities, here are your General Bartender Responsibilities:

We are looking for a professional, high-energy bartender with excellent communication skills to serve beer & wine. You’ll greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages. You will also upsell items, utilize proper equipment, and handle basic cleaning duties.

You are expected to be engaging, humble personable, friendly, efficient, observant & knowledgable.

Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.

  • Planning beer & wine menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.

  • Serving beverages to customers.

  • Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.

  • Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar is well-stocked.

  • Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.

  • Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.

  • Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Education, training, certificates, or experience may be required.

  • Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol.

  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Positive, engaging personality, and professional appearance.

  • Basic math and computer skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong task and time management abilities.

  • Eye for detail.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, etc for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lbs.
